How to Choose Your Dress Size in Sri Lanka: A Complete UK Sizing Guide
Sizing is the single biggest reason people hesitate before buying clothes online. You cannot try anything on, labels differ between brands, and the numbers on the tag are not the numbers on your body. This guide explains exactly what Noirelle's sizes mean, how to measure yourself properly, and what happens if you still get it wrong.
Noirelle sizes run UK 6 to UK 16
Every Noirelle garment is listed in UK sizing. If you normally shop US or EU sizes, here is the full conversion alongside the body measurements each size is cut for.
| Size | UK / AU | US | EU | Bust | Waist | Hip |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 6 | 2 | 34 | 80 cm | 62 cm | 87 cm |
| S | 8 | 4 | 36 | 84 cm | 66 cm | 91 cm |
| M | 10 | 6 | 38 | 88 cm | 70 cm | 95 cm |
| L | 12 | 8 | 40 | 92 cm | 74 cm | 99 cm |
| XL | 14 | 10 | 42 | 97 cm | 79 cm | 104 cm |
| XXL | 16 | 12 | 44 | 102 cm | 84 cm | 109 cm |
These are body measurements, not garment measurements. That distinction matters more than most size charts admit. The numbers above describe the body a size is cut to fit — not the width of the fabric itself. A relaxed kaftan and a fitted bodycon in the same UK 10 are drafted for the same body but will measure completely differently on a flat surface.
How to measure yourself accurately
You need a soft measuring tape and about two minutes. Measure over your underwear, not over clothes, and keep the tape level all the way around.
Bust
Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape parallel to the floor and passing under your arms. Do not pull it tight — it should sit flush without compressing.
Waist
Find your natural waist, which is the narrowest part of your torso, usually an inch or so above your navel. If you are unsure, bend sideways: the crease that forms is your natural waist. Measure there, and keep one finger under the tape.
Hip
Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat, generally about 20 cm below your natural waist. Stand with your feet together.
What to do when you fall between two sizes
Very few people match one size across all three measurements, and that is completely normal. A useful rule:
- Fitted styles — bodycon dresses, tailored trousers, anything with a defined waist seam — size to your largest measurement. It is far easier to take a garment in than to let it out.
- Relaxed styles — kaftans, smocked and tiered dresses, tie-front and peplum tops — size to your bust, because that is usually the only point the garment is genuinely constrained at.
- Skirts and trousers — go by hip, not waist, unless the waistband is elasticated or tied.
Individual product pages carry a model height and the size she is wearing wherever that information is available, which is often the fastest way to judge how a piece will actually sit.
Fabric changes how a size wears
Two garments cut to identical measurements can fit very differently depending on what they are made of. Across the Noirelle range you will mostly encounter cotton, rayon, linen and chiffon.
- Cotton holds its shape and has little natural give, so a fitted cotton piece will feel truer to the measurements above than almost anything else.
- Rayon drapes and moves. It skims the body rather than gripping it, which makes it forgiving between sizes.
- Linen softens and relaxes with wear. If you are between sizes in linen, the smaller one will usually settle in.
- Chiffon and organza are typically used as an outer layer over a lining, so the lining underneath determines the real fit.
If the size is wrong, here is exactly what happens
Noirelle operates an exchange-only policy. You can request an exchange within 7 days of delivery, and the item must be unworn, unwashed, and returned with all original tags attached.
Two things worth knowing before you order:
- There are no cash refunds. If you exchange for something of lower value, the difference is issued as a Noirelle coupon voucher rather than returned as cash.
- Courier charges for exchanges are paid by the customer, for both the pickup and the re-delivery.
- Sale items and hygiene-sensitive items cannot be exchanged. If you are buying from The Secret Sale, be especially certain of your size first.
To start an exchange, contact the Customer Care team on 076 688 8025 or at info@noirellepremium.com within the 7-day window. Full terms are on the Shipping & Returns page.
